Purity

Raw Gold

Raw gold in nature is never pure. It’s a combination of silver and other trace elements. The gold in our jewelry is true to the creek from which it was mined. Each piece is stamped with the name of the creek it came from. As each creek has its own rich history, the gold from each creek has its own fingerprint, known as its geochemical signature.

The purity of gold will vary widely from creek to creek. We use only the highest assay/purity of Klondike or Atlin gold.

Pure 24 karat gold can only be achieved through chemical refinement. We only melt and clean our gold twice, keeping it raw and pure, just as nature intended.

The Difference

Our gold is 880! At Schindler Gold, we primarily use nuggets that are naturally 88% pure (roughly 21.5 karat), or 880 parts of 1000. We call it and mark it 880.

Although our heart is rooted in our raw Klondike gold with its rich and powerful history, we will also offer pure 24 karat gold. 24k gold can only be achieved through chemical refinement so its provenance is no longer intact.
